The Traveling Christmas Extraveganza Part 1

Christmas for Rachel and I started on Tuesday after Sadie went to bed we exchanged gifts. The following morning we left for Jackson so we could do Christmas with Connie on Wednesday. Then, on Christmas Eve we drove thru nasty weather to get to Independence LA. This is where Sadie's Great grandparents live, so she finally got to meet her Paw Paw. On Christmas Eve night the whole family goes to uncle Paul's house for a big party. Finally, Christmas is here and we are on the road again to McComb for Christmas with Rachel's dad and his family. After lunch we headed back to Madison and stayed with Aunt Annette. Saturday we made the journey home so we visit with Ruff and Angelia before going to do Christmas with my parents.

Thanksgiving

Sorry this is so late, it has been very busy at Ethridge Construction lately. For Thanksgiving, Rachel, Sadie, and I went to Brandon for dinner at Rachel's Mom's house. My parents also came, as well as Rachel's Aunt Annette, Uncle Steve, Grandma, Cousin Adam, Cousin Jason, Cousin Erin, and her sister Angela. Dinner was great, even though the house smelled like ham instead of turkey. Here are a few pics of the day.
Aunt Annette finaly got to hold her niece.

Great Grandma Carmel just can't get enough of her first great grand child.

Here is our little turkey.

Cousin Jason and Sadie hit it off.

Uncle Steve, The Godfather, and Sadie.

Aunt Angela has this crazy turkey hat that is just too much fun.

Here is the cook, Grandma, getting to enjoy some realxing with her grandbaby after cooking for hours.

Sadie's Christening

Saturday, Novermber 7, 2009 will always be a special day Rachel and I, but more importantly Sadie. This is the day that she began her journey with God. Sadie was baptized this past Saturday in the same Christening gown that I wore for my baptism almost 29 years ago. She would probably be wearing the one that my mom had worn at hers, had she thought it was a great idea to cut it up to make a doll dress. I must tell you that Saturday, as Rachel was getting Sadie dressed, was the first time I had ever seen this Christening gown. And as Rachel pulled it out of the bag, I think I heard a younger version of my father say," He's not wearing that damn thing!". Some of you must be wondering how my mother ever talked my father into letting me leave the house in this very femine outfit, the rest of you are probably wondering what I looked like in said gown. You will never know.

Here we are with Sadie's Godparents while Father Tom blesses the water.

Here's Sadie getting the "dunk".

And being annointed with the oil of salvation.

Sadie checking out her Baptismal candle.

Afterwards with her godparents, Steve and Elizabeth.

Here is that picture of the 4 generations I was waiting to get.

A special thanks Dennis and Vicki Wilson, Dennis was my photographer for the evening.

Here's Uncle Steve with his new Goddaughter.

Also a special thanks to my mom and dad for hosting Sadie's first afterparty at their house.

Happy Halloween

I was gone to see Ole Miss lose at Auburn, but it looks like Sadie, Rachel, her mom, and her grandma had plenty of fun. Didn't get any 4 generations pics, but everyone is coming back this weekend for Sadie's baptisim.
Grandma and her first great grandchild.

Connie got her turn as well.

My mom was left all alone at home, so she came over for dinner Saturday night.

Sunday Funday

We had a relaxing Sunday, where none of us got out of our pj's until it was time to go to dinner at my parents house. This is Sadie enjoying the big screen TV.
Here she is upset because I told her she would have to share her chair with me. It was my spot first.

Relaxing, watching some Sunday night football with dad after a long day. She was awake most of the day.

First Day of Pamcare

I was home this morning to help Rachel and Sadie get ready for their first day back to work and of daycare. We are calling it Pamcare because Pam is the lady keeping Sadie.

Here she is, half asleep, ready to go to Pam's.

This is Pam. Hopefully all will go well today. I have to say, Rachel was way more composed than I had imagined. I am proud of her.

Jaime Visits

As I said, Rachel and Sadie left the grove early on Saturday. That was because Rachel's friend Jaime was coming to town to spend the night and hang out with Sadie. I didn't get many pictures because they left me in charge and went shopping. When they got back I hung out for a minute, and then I was off to bed.

Good Luck Charm

Sadie made her first of many trips to the grove on Saturday. She and mom left early, but she was there long enough to be the Rebels new good luck charm. Now I just have to convince mom she has to be in the grove for the Tennessee and LSU games, so we can win.
I am pretty sure that this is the look I will get.

MH and Matthew were in town for the game and MH could not wait to get her hands on Sadie. As you can tell it was a little cool before the game.

Sadie, showing off her duds. It is never too early to start dressing for the grove. We left her high heels in Tupelo.

This is Kelly pretending to not be jealous of MH gettiing to hold Sadie. Kelly has a cold, but she will see her again, soon enough.
